How will loft insulation help me?
Loft insulation is a quick and easy option to help keep your home warm, and it is one of the cheapest ways to insulate your home.

Lofts without insulation lose heat.
Around a quarter of the heat in an uninsulated home is lost through the loft - sufficient insulation will help reduce this.
The Energy Savings Trust (EST) estimates that a detached gas-heated home could save £445 per year by insulating the loft (January 2024).
Building regulations require loft insulation to be 270mm (approx. 10½ inches). If you don’t know how much loft insulation you have, our property assessor will let you know when they visit.
Installation
It will take one of our installers about an hour to install your loft insulation, depending on the size of your home.
We also insulate pipework and tanks in your loft. Wooden loft hatches will be draughtproofed, or alternatively we can replace them.
Care needs to be taken not to compress the insulation, and our installation teams can install a storage platform in your loft to put things on. During your property survey, you can ask our assessor if this is possible in your home.
We can also add additional insulation to your loft to reach the recommended depth of 270mm. If existing insulation is in poor condition, we can remove and replace it with new insulation.
Grant Funding
You may be able to access grant funding to support your loft insulation. Not all grant funding is means tested. Our team will always check to see if you can access grant funding.
You can also benefit from 0% VAT, which is available until 2027 on insulation installations and renewable energy upgrades.
Aran can access a number of grant funding schemes including Great British Insulation Scheme (GBIS) and Energy Company Obligation (ECO)4 (ECO4).
