On Saturday 3rd August, 10 Aran staff members and a friend joined the Trek26 organised charity walk, raising money for the Alzheimer’s Society.
833 people took part in the event, and the Aran team had a combined target donation of £2,400 towards this very worthwhile cause and actually raised more than £3200!
The event in total has raised £387,026 so far. This money could pay for a Community Dementia Adviser to support more than 1050 families. Community Dementia Advisers provide face-to-face support for families facing complex challenges. Whether they’re supporting someone living with dementia, a carer, or an entire family, this support is invaluable when it comes to navigating the maze of dementia.
Cathryn, Karen, Denise, Julian, Lisa, Lynsey S, Nina, James R, Lynsey J, Jane and Jo set out from Thorpeness, after a quick coffee and a bacon sandwich, walked through Dunwich Heath, and along the beautiful Suffolk Coastal Path for 13 (and a bit) miles they returned to Thorpeness to a nice refreshing drink to help the sore feet.
A great day was had by all while raising money to bring help and hope to everyone living with dementia.
The Aran Team are very grateful for all donations received, and are looking forward to their next challenge!
